Today, we’re tackling one of the most visited parts of your website: the homepage. Your homepage is your storefront. So, it must be maintained to ensure you’re directing visitors to where you want them to go. Here are three quick fixes you can do today to make an immediate impact.
1. Refresh Your Hero Section
Take a look at the main call to action image at the top of your site. Is it promoting something current? If not, change it. One of the worst things you can do here is showcase your shows, unless it’s a significant change that is the primary focus of the radio station at that moment.
Many feature their shows or put a slider here. Sliders have been proven horrible for conversions. Feature an active contest, a sponsor promotion, or even a recent big news story. That first visual tells your audience what matters most to your station, so make it count.
2. Add or Improve a Clear Call to Action
What do you want visitors to do first—listen live? Enter a contest? Submit a local event? Sign up for the newsletter?
Make sure that your call to action is obvious and above the fold. Use a bold button or banner. Don’t make people hunt for the next step.
3. Reorder Homepage Content by Priority
Most stations build the homepage once and forget it. But your goals change—and so should your layout.
Move the content that drives the most value—whether that’s local news, advertiser blocks, or feature promotions—higher up the page. Lower-priority items can drop further down. Or, better yet, they can be taken off the homepage completely. The homepage doesn’t need everything. Draw visitors in with the most relevant information, and then on those pages invite them around the site for other content.
That’s it! Three small changes you can make today that can lead to better user engagement, more clicks, and more time spent on your site.
If you implement just one of these right now, you’ll see the difference by next week.
