How to Market Your Radio Station Website Launch

Similar to a station launch or format change, for a new radio station website launch or re-design, the first thing you want to do is show it off to listeners and clients.  To really get the most traction out of a new site, you need to think about your marketing approach before it goes live.  Here are some helpful tips to help you carry out a successful website launch.

Inform Key Clients

Many times our key clients can be notified ahead of a station launch or change.  Ensure that you notify these clients of the upcoming and have new/updated banner ads in place before launch.  Pitch the buzzworthy-ness of the website and offer incentives to new clients that may not have advertised online before.

Go Social

Prior to your official website launch, make sure that your station social media accounts are set up and linked to your website.  Be consistent with all social media branding by using the same station logos, high quality images and descriptive content for each profile.  The key to getting the most out of social medial marketing is to be organized and consistent.  You don’t want old logos or artwork appearing anywhere that doesn’t match the new website.

Create a content marketing plan with a calendar of what you’ll post and when. Having several posts set up and ready to go ahead of time in draft mode can ensure consistency throughout the launch process. For email marketing, make sure that you have a solid contact list and a great message crafted ahead of time.  Including a motivating call to action (CTA) and compelling message within the email will help encourage listeners to visit.

Offer Listener Incentives

To encourage your listeners to check out your new website by offering special incentives for signing up for your mailing list or create a contest with a listener prize for sharing the website link via their social circles. This is an awesome and effective way of getting people’s attention and it can help drive new visitors and return customers to your new site and to listen.

Advertise your promotion on-air, via an email announcement and post it on social media accounts for the most exposure.  Leveraging all available marketing channels and offering a reason to check out your website will help the largest possible audience connect with you.

Make it Public

To make sure everyone knows about your new website, create a press release and send it to the appropriate media outlets announcing your launch.

Your website isn’t complete until it’s been officially launched and marketed. Creating a sound marketing strategy will help you get the most out of your new design and functionality. Make sure that your current and future clients are excited about your new website by being prepared with a smart approach.  You’ll be impressed with the results!
